What Future Does Internet Poker Have In The Market?

Will You Still Be Able Play Your Favorite Game Online?
Internet poker… it certainly has an interesting history (thus far). Many people around the world can enjoy this pastime but some of these folks have no idea if they’re breaking laws by playing Internet poker. Many Internet poker rooms have had some scandals, mergers, takeovers, banking issues and more. Businesses have even been put together to sell external software tools that are geared toward helping players do better in their games. Despite the scandals, you can go to many poker rooms and find many people playing. People who love to play poker are going to find a way to do it on the Internet so long as they have a way to deposit their money and get their winnings back.
American Law Sends Major Poker Websites Packing
Unfortunately, the industry’s future is murky although it’s a huge revenue source and very popular among the public. The industry’s lifeline depends on the legalities in the countries that contain the market sections. At the moment, the United States has no federal mandate against playing Internet poker. With saying that, there are eight states in the U.S. that bans Internet gambling. The most important thing to note is that there’s a law in the United that bands banks from making monetary dealings to and from online gambling sites. The law mentioned was attached to a “Safe Port Act” the last day before the Senate broke the number on Google result for corrupt senator. This senator (who shall remain nameless) was given money from Harrah’s Entertainment for his campaign, totaling nearly 25 percent of the campaign funds. While the law still stands, the senator did not get re-elected.
Because of this law, the online poker industry has done some key reorganizing of power. Before the law was passed, Party Poker dominated the industry; however, it pulled out of the United States to avoid any possible legal entanglements. Not long after Party Poker left so did more than a few other popular poker rooms and networks. Of course, those who decided to stay and endure the U.S. law have taken over in this area, meaning Poker Stars is now where Party Poker once was (in the top spot). In fact, a look at the top-five list and you’ll see that Party Poker doesn’t even make the cut.
Scandal On Safety and Security Breaks Out
A major American market poker room called Absolute Poker had a major scandal break out. As it turns out, software developers had created for themselves a back door that allowed them to see the cards of other players. During the two years they played, they managed to steal millions of dollars from other legit players. For that reason, concern for fairness in the games on all Online Poker rooms became a huge debate.
Programs Aimed To Aid Poker Player On The ‘Net
Private software developers are quite creative when it comes to designing products aimed at helping Internet poker players. The majority of them are analytical programs that will collect data about your opponents and arrange it out into statistics. Some programs will display this information on the poker table. For obvious reasons, these programs have been banned on major sites.
You also have poker pots, which are also banned at all Internet poker rooms. It’s not because of the issue of using such a software that lets you rake automatically for so many hours a day. It’s because recreational players are mistrustful of them. Of course, Poker Stars is the only site to do anything about them being used altogether in games. The majority of poker bots are pretty poor quality; however, there are some good ones showing up, and the interest in them is gaining.
What is online poker’s future? Some people think with tougher anti-gambling laws being implemented in the United States, it could further restrict the industry. In fact, only two or three rooms will operate, providing original banking options like now. However, there are going to be fewer rooms to choose from and the ones that stay will own that industry. Someone will then wise up and create a poker room that allows outside poker software and poker pots.
